Restaurant guide
Morzine has a great selection of restaurants to suit all budgets and tastes.
From local Savoyard dishes to pizza and asian inspired dishes. We have selected a few of our favourites below both in the village and on the mountain. Restaurant guide
In the village
La Rotonde has one of the best steaks in town as well as traditional alpine plates like fondue and raclette. The large covered heated terrace is super cosy in winter and in summer they have an outdoor garden dining area for those warm nights. La Rotonde is a little more upmarket and a great option if you are looking for something a bit special.
La Grange is a traditional, alpine restaurant in the centre of Morzine, located right next door to Chalet Coffy and La Grange. Warm and friendly, the menu is full of home cooked Savoyard specialities but also great steaks, salad and children’s options. We always find that the atmosphere at La Grange makes for a lovely evening. You can also order take-away from them to eat in the chalet if you don’t fancy the full restaurant experience.
The Bec Jaune is only a short walk from all our properties. As a microbrewery bar you have a brilliant selection of different beers and ales each week. Bar snacks and mains all freshly prepared, so if you fancy a break from the cheese this is a perfect option. A very good choice for veggies, vegans and meat eaters alike. (The beer battered pickles are highly addictive!) It does get busy so booking in advance is a must.
O’Chalet does the best burgers in town, with friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Every burger on the menu is available in a veggie alternative. You can’t book but they have lots of tables and the service is fast so you normally don’t have to wait. Located in the middle of town it’s perfect for food before, during or after some après ski. Take-away or eat in. Summer and winter.
L’Improviste opened last winter as a takeaway but now you can enjoy a really cosy yet contemporary bistro vibe. Handmade pizza and pastas, all delicious. (Our top pick is the Margherita, here the simplest is the best!). Take-away or eat in.
Gusto e Basta is a little gem hidden away next to the Mairie, right in the centre of town. These guys know how to make pizza! They use fresh authentic ingredients in their pizzas and pastas, which can be take-away or eat in. They have a large deck out the front for summer dining and a perfect place to enjoy a cold Italian beer with your food. Take-away or eat in.
Satellite Coffee has the best freshly brewed coffee in all the whole town. The cafe is on Rue du Bourg in the centre of Morzine, and is the perfect start to any day, whether you want coffee and cake, breakfast or a snack lunch. There’s a cosy, friendly vibe inside and a decking area out front that catches the morning sun. They have a selection of freshly made cakes (with vegan and gf options), snacks (including sausage and vegan rolls) and breakfast and brunch options, from granola to packed pitas. (Jacks top pick – iced latte).
Also recommended – Hideout Hostel for great Asian food (booking essential!), Solide for fresh daily dishes, La Chamade for a special occasion, La Flamme for a cosy vibe, Chez Martine for the best crepes (takeaway only) and Papa Renard for great burgers.
on the mountain
Avoriaz and Lindarets
Changabang – Lively fast food restaurant with a sunny terrace. It’s an easy meeting spot close to the top of the Prodains bubble. Burgers, twister fries, wraps, nachos and more. Winter only!
Le Chalet Du Verard is Jack’s special pick, as it’s now a tradition to celebrate his birthday here in December. Run by husband and wife, Philippe and Cecile, this charming little restaurant is tucked away on the Prodains home run. Serving the absolute best fondue in the area – made with a combination of local cheeses. The restaurant is open all day, but for something special you can book an evening meal and ski down to Verard at last lifts after watching the sunset in Avoriaz. There is a short ski down after your meal so be careful how much wine you drink at dinner!
Mamos cafe – A family run restaurant (for over 12 years) on the Lindarets plateau, Mamo’s Café offers a variety of homemade dishes (accessible by skis, foot or bike, summer and winter).
The terrace facing the snow-capped peaks in winter and the river in summer, provides a relaxing place to eat in all seasons. Burgers, gluten-free buckwheat pancakes, vegetarian dishes and other small specialties mean there’s something for everyone. (We highly recommend the ‘Burger Jackson’ – a goat’s cheese and honey burger). Summer and winter.
La T’Chapa – located in the goat village just below Les Lindarets, with easy ski-in and out access, is our go to long lunch restaurant. There’s a large sunny terrace for the warm days and a cosy inside with chic interiors, first class service and a warm, friendly atmosphere. The food here is outstanding and with the BBQ to order fresh meat and giant prawns are grilled to perfection. Summer and winter.
Le Fournil de Cannelle – THE best bakery in Avoriaz, located just behind Carrefour. Serving giant pizzas, delicious paninis, huge sandwiches and other delights. Take away plus outdoor seating, great for a quick lunch!
Also recommended – La Terrace for fun afternoon vibes, Le Chaudron for local specialties and a warm welcome and La Cabane in the centre of Avoriaz with a great sunny terrace.
Morzine and Les Gets
La Païka, a popular restaurant on the La Turche slopes in Les Gets. La Paika has a beautiful sunny terrace with views across the valley, and a cosy interior for the snowy days. Specialities include meat, poultry and fish all cooked on the wood fired barbecue, plus speciality cheese dishes and a buffet of homemade desserts. A good spot for a long lunch! Summer and winter. Booking essential!
Chez Nannon is a hidden gem on the Nyon plateau. A family run restaurant with the warmest welcome, a great choice for a sunny lunch – highly recommend the Cote de Boeuf cooked on a wood fire and their speciality cheese dish – Croute au Fromage. Plus the Rosé is delicious! Booking essential.
Le Vaffieu is easy to find at the top of the TS Golf lift and the new Belevédère lift (or a gentle 15-25 minute walk from the top of the Pleney bubble). You will find delicious French plates, from perfectly cooked sea bass, foie gras and rack of lamb to parfait, fruitcake and mille-feuille. Great kids food options and the best hot chocolate on the mountain will keep the little ones happy too. Summer and winter.
Also worth visiting – Le Grand Rocher on the retour to Morzine for great mountain food, Le Nabor right at the top of the Pleney bubble for an easy lunch and Les Aigles du Leman on the Nyon plateau for a lunch with an added Eagle showa
Jack and Wendy’s special picks
Ferme Auberge de Fréterolles is Wendy’s special pick having worked here for one summer season. Located at the end of Vallée de la Manche, this working farm has its own milking parler, dairy and cheese room, with the goats grazing around the restaurant. Run but one family, Fréterolles is a beautiful example of local rustic French mountain food. Open every day at noon between June and September in a magnificent setting up the mountain, it is a great place to have lunch, whether you stop on the way back from a hike or just walk up to it. For an extra special Savoyard experience book lunch at the weekend (must be done far in advance!) where Loise-Paul will sing mountain songs and yodel accompanied by accordion. Booking is advised, summer only.
Le Chalet Du Verard is Jack’s special pick. Run by husband and wife, Philippe et Cecile, this charming little restaurant is tucked away on the Prodains home run. Normally the place we go to celebrate peoples birthdays over the winter we thought we would share the secret, the absolute best fondu in the area. Made with Philippe and Cecile’s secret combination of local cheeses it is incredible. It is open all day, but for something special you can ski down to Verard at last lifts and enjoy some après beers in front of the wood burning stove, before eating fondue, green salad, charcuterie and a homemade dessert (the chocolate moelleux tarte is our pick) in the cozy interior, before a short ski down to catch the bus back into town. Booking is a must for evening service. Summer and winter.
